The Fugitive, Saulnier-Style

A24’s official synopsis lays it out clean: scare-actor “Metal Mike” Graves wakes up inside the haunted attraction surrounded by the dead bodies of his co-workers, with no memory of how they got there. As a state-wide manhunt closes in, he races to uncover the truth — even if the trail leads straight back to him. (Somewhere in the slayground, fiends, there’s an attraction called Denial, and you’re in it.)

This is the big one for genre fans: Saulnier’s first feature since 2024’s Rebel Ridge, and his return to A24 more than a decade after Green Room — the punk-siege gut-punch that remains one of the most brutal horror thrillers of the last decade. He’s working from his own script, with the score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, which means the dread in this one is going to sound expensive.

The ensemble reads like a “who’s about to break out” list: Cory Michael Smith leads as Metal Mike, with Talk to Me breakout Sophie Wilde, Imogen Poots reuniting with Saulnier after Green Room, James Badge Dale, Chase Sui Wonders, Young Mazino, Stephen Root, Matty Matheson and Macon Blair — who also executive-produces.

Honesty hour, because that’s how we do things here: we haven’t seen a frame of the film beyond the teaser. But a Halloween-set fugitive thriller from the guy who made Green Room, with Reznor and Ross scoring it, landing on A24’s release slate — that’s the kind of trailer drop you don’t sleep on.
