Overview
The Conjuring universe is a studio line built on two films James Wan directed and a set of spinoffs he produced. The Conjuring (2013) follows Ed and Lorraine Warren into the Perron family’s Rhode Island farmhouse. The Conjuring 2 (2016) moves them to Enfield and introduces the nun figure. The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021) and The Conjuring: Last Rites (2025) continue the Warren cases without Wan as director. Annabelle and The Nun are side stories that use objects and faces from the main films.
The Warrens were real people. The films are not documentaries. Lorraine Warren consulted on the early entries. The cases — Annabelle the doll, the Enfield poltergeist, the Arne Cheyenne Johnson trial — are public record that the scripts rearrange.
Main films and spinoffs
Annabelle (2014), Annabelle: Creation (2017), and Annabelle Comes Home (2019) follow the doll. The Nun (2018) and The Nun II (2023) follow the demon painted as a sister. Wan directed only The Conjuring and The Conjuring 2. Michael Chaves directed the third and fourth main films. The box office is why the spinoffs exist. The staging people quote is usually from the two Wan films: a long take, a clapped hand, a face in a reflection.

Trivia
- Wan directed two of the films. The brand is larger than his filmography.
- The Nun was a vision in The Conjuring 2 before she had her own movie.
- There is no Ed and Lorraine Warren character page yet.
- The doll in the films is not the Raggedy Ann the real case used. The rights pushed the design.
- Last Rites is billed as a closing Warren case. Spinoffs do not have to obey that.
