You wake up with fresh staples in your skull. The treatment center’s corridors peel back into something worse — something with teeth and too many angles. The flashlight in your hand is shaking. It won’t stop shaking. Sixteen years ago, this whole nightmare fit in your pocket.

Here’s the thing about this remaster: it isn’t the first time Dementium II crawled onto PC. Back in 2013, a version called Dementium II HD showed up with zero involvement from the original creators — and it landed buggy, joyless, and permanently stuck at a “Mixed” Steam rating from the players who suffered through it. This is the do-over.
You play William Redmoor, waking up in the Bright Dawn Treatment Center with a new wound and an old accusation — the records say he murdered his wife. A postcard in his cell, in his own handwriting, tells him to run. The hospital keeps tearing open into a demented version of itself, and escaping the building is only the beginning: an empty village and a countryside full of things that shouldn’t exist are waiting outside.
Full disclosure, up front, because that’s how we do things here: nobody outside Atooi has played this remaster yet — it doesn’t unlock until October 20. Everything above comes from the official Steam page and the date announcement (Gematsu broke it). No skull rating until I’ve actually walked those corridors.

FAQ
Is this the same as the old Dementium II HD on Steam?
No — and that’s the whole point. This is a new remaster from Atooi, the studio led by the original game’s creator. The 2013 version stays buried.
Do I need to play Dementium: The Ward first?
Nope. The sequel recaps William Redmoor’s story, though horror completionists will want both.
Harper out. Lights out.
