Forbidden Fruits is a 2026 dark comedy horror about a coven of young women, often described as Mean Girls crossed with The Craft.

Plot summary
Alloway’s first feature adapts Lily Houghton’s 2019 play. The women at the center take fruit names: Apple, Pumpkin, Cherry, Fig, Pickle. The coven is also a clique. The joke and the spell are the same social weapon.
Spoiler section: the ending
The film does not treat the witchcraft as a costume the group can take off. The last turn is about who the circle is willing to keep, not about a school dance.
Production and behind the scenes
Diablo Cody and Mason Novick are among the producers. The script landed on the 2023 Black List. Principal photography began in Toronto in March 2025. Emma Chamberlain makes her acting debut. Gabrielle Union joined in April 2025.
Release and reception
SXSW premiere was March 16, 2026. U.S. release was March 27, 2026. Rotten Tomatoes stood at 76 percent from about 90 reviews. Sitges Panorama screening was set for October 2026.
