You’re home late. The porch light is out — again — and every house on your street looks like it’s holding its breath. You tell yourself it’s just the wind. Then you hear it: a car door, two streets over, closing softly. A car door at 2:47 in the morning doesn’t close softly by accident.

Lock the doors, fiends. Then come back — we’ve got news out of Elmwood Heights, and nowhere is safe.

The teaser trailer for Dead of Night is out now, and the Night Stalker-inspired horror-thriller slashes into theaters November 13, 2026. Bloody Disgusting broke the exclusive this morning, and this one’s got claws: wrestling legend and rocker Chris Jericho — yes, that Jericho, of Terrifier fame — executive produces.

Quick Specs:

  • Film: Dead of Night (2026)
  • In theaters: November 13, 2026 (Level 33 Entertainment)
  • Director: Derek Sulek
  • Cast: Dermot Mulroney, Scott Grimes, Jake Busey, Kirrilee Berger, Alex Camacho
  • Executive producers: Chris Jericho, Scott Grimes, Ann Koch, Doug Johnson, Matthew Ballard
  • Teaser: out now on the film’s official site

Here’s the setup: when the savagely mutilated body of a young woman is discovered in the quiet town of Elmwood Heights, the newly elected mayor (Camacho) panics his way into organizing a neighborhood watch. Sheriff Weaver (Mulroney) struggles to stop a masked killer while the town spirals — and his daughter Kelly (Berger), sensing a darkness that goes beyond simple murder, starts digging into the killer’s twisted motivation herself.

The filmmakers say Dead of Night was inspired by the fear that gripped Los Angeles during the Night Stalker era — and they shot it in LA to keep that fear honest. That’s a bold claim to stake your movie on, but there’s early smoke here: the special AMC Burbank screening with a Q&A already sold out. (Somebody’s paying attention.)

Full disclosure, up front, because that’s how we do things here: Harper hasn’t seen a frame of this beyond the teaser. No rating until it earns its skulls — but a Night Stalker fever-dream with Dermot Mulroney carrying the badge and Jericho’s name on the poster? That’s a ticket I want to hold.

Trivia & Facts:

  • Tagline says it all: “NOWHERE IS SAFE. Every neighborhood has secrets — this one has a killer.”
  • Written and directed by Derek Sulek, from a screenplay co-written with Eric Durham.
  • The terror is practical-era throwback: a masked killer, a panicked town, and a sheriff’s daughter who won’t stop asking questions.
  • Fozzy’s song “I Know Evil” features in the film — Jericho’s band, of course.
  • Theatrical only — no streaming date announced.

Harper’s Extras: If Elmwood Heights hooked you, keep the dread going — revisit the real Night Stalker terror with Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer, then Zodiac for the procedural itch, and The Poughkeepsie Tapes if you want found-footage dread. (All suggestions. None of them come with a neighborhood watch.)

Where to Watch: In theaters November 13, 2026. General tickets go on sale soon via the official Dead of Night site — deadofnightmovie.com.
