American Horror Story Renewed for Season 14 — Thirteen Was Never the End
American Horror Story season 13 official trailer key art — FX / Hulu
You’re counting candles on a coven cake at 2:47 in the morning. Thirteen seasons. Thirteen — the number that was supposed to be the punchline, the perfect place for the anthology to die neat and complete. The finale hasn’t even aired yet, fiends, and the corpse just sat up in its coffin and asked for another season.
Dim the lights and keep your Thursdays free — because this one is already official.

The Renewal Nobody Had to Beg For
Thirteen was set up like a tombstone. The last renewal FX ever handed this show came in January 2020 — a three-season pickup covering Seasons 11, 12 and 13 — and for nearly seven years, that was the whole road map. Plenty of us assumed the anthology would fittingly end on its most feared number.
Then Season 13 premiered on September 24 and detonated. It delivered the biggest streaming premiere in the show’s history, became Ryan Murphy’s biggest launch ever on Hulu and Disney+, and planted itself on Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10 chart. We covered that resurrection as it happened – 763 million minutes and counting – including Murphy saying he was already writing a fourteenth season. On October 20, FX stopped letting him say it alone and made it a renewal.
Full Disclosure, Up Front
Honesty hour, because that’s how we do things here: there is no Season 14 theme, cast or premiere date yet, and anyone who tells you otherwise is reading tea leaves in a Murder House basement. What exists is the pickup itself — and the weight behind it. This is the longest-running hour-long series in FX history, a phenomenon with more than 100 Emmy nominations and 17 wins since it first crawled onto screens in 2011. Season 13 earned this renewal the old-fashioned way: by scaring up the biggest audience the show has ever had.
