American Horror Story S13 Haunts the Charts — 763M Minutes and Murphy Wants More

American Horror Story season 13 official trailer key art — FX

You’re wide awake at 2:47 in the morning. The TV glow paints your ceiling blue, and Constance Langdon is drawling on screen like she never left — like the last eight years were just a commercial break. Thirteen. The number hotels skip and elevators fear. You waited years for this reunion, fiends. Turns out, so did everybody else.

Horror hounds, American Horror Story: 13 isn’t just back — it’s eating. The franchise racked up 763 million minutes of viewing on Nielsen’s streaming chart for the week — #2 among acquired series, with the new season driving a third of it. Full disclosure, up front: I thought this show was running on fumes. A resurrection worthy of the coven itself.

The linear FX airing was quieter — 378K same-day viewers — but cable is cable, and streaming is where this coven casts its spell. FX says roughly 4 million views worldwide hit Hulu and Disney+ in the first four days, making it Ryan Murphy’s biggest streaming launch on those platforms ever, and a 50% jump over Delicate.

And Murphy? He’s not done. Not even close. He told The Hollywood Reporter he’s already writing season 14, wants to make the show “forever,” and has his eye on taking Horror Story international. When the numbers roar like this, the studio listens.

Harper’s Extras

  • Jessica Lange plays four of her past characters — Constance, Sister Jude, Fiona Goode and Elsa Mars — plus a fifth mystery role the show’s keeping under wraps.
  • The season is Murphy’s self-described “greatest hits” — he compared it to the Avengers assembling against the ultimate evil.
  • Critics are charmed (86% on Rotten Tomatoes); audiences are spicier (41%). The 30-minute episodes have divided the coven.
  • Kathy Bates is back in the fold — read her profile in our wiki before she steals another scene:
  • If Murphy takes AHS international, he’ll be chasing a crown Mike Flanagan already wears for prestige horror TV:

So here’s my dare: rewatch your favorite season before Halloween, then tell me 13 doesn’t belong in the top three. The witches are back, the numbers don’t lie, and Murphy’s just getting started.
