You remember Saturday mornings — the bright colors, the singalong songs, the friendly face on the TV that felt like a real friend. Now picture that friend smiling a little too wide. Picture the theme song playing a half-step too slow, in a house where the lights won’t stay on. Buddy is here to ruin your childhood, and he’s brought friends.

Casper Kelly’s killer-unicorn horror-comedy Buddy is now on Digital at home.

Trailer note: we’re skipping the embed — no confirmed official studio-channel upload, and we don’t do re-uploads.

Quick Specs

  • Film: Buddy (2026) — horror-comedy
  • Director: Casper Kelly (Too Many Cooks, Adult Swim Yule Log); co-written with Jamie King
  • Cast: Cristin Milioti (Grace), Delaney Quinn (Freddy), Keegan-Michael Key (voice of Buddy), Topher Grace, Michael Shannon, Patton Oswalt, Clint Howard
  • Rated R, 95 minutes
  • Now on Digital (since October 13, 2026); Blu-ray/DVD December 8, 2026; limited VHS via Witter Entertainment (pre-sale November 24, 2026)

The numbers are the real horror story — for the competition. Buddy has stampeded past $26 million, making it the biggest opening of the year for a movie on fewer than 1,800 screens, the highest-grossing film in Saban Films’ history, and the third-highest-grossing Roadside Attractions release ever — behind only I Can Only Imagine and Manchester by the Sea. Not bad for a killer unicorn.

The film world-premiered in the Midnight Section of Sundance 2026 before hitting theaters August 28, 2026 via Roadside Attractions and Saban Films. Now it’s yours: on Digital since October 13, 2026, with a Blu-ray/DVD out December 8, 2026 — plus a limited-edition VHS via Witter Entertainment (pre-sale November 24, 2026, shipping for the holidays). Because nothing says horror like tracking lines.

If killer toys are your love language, our Child’s Play (1988) review is essential reading — and the killer-doll renaissance rolls on in our Paris Hilton killer-doll horror-comedy story.

Harper’s Extras

  • The Kelly pedigree: Casper Kelly gave us Too Many Cooks and the Adult Swim Yule Log — the man weaponizes nostalgia for a living. A killer unicorn was inevitable.
  • The VHS gambit: a limited-edition VHS via Witter Entertainment, on pre-sale November 24 and shipping for the holidays. Physical media isn’t dead; it’s just haunted.

So dim the lights, cue up the Digital rental, and remember: if your childhood toys start smiling too wide — don’t say we didn’t warn you. Keep it locked on Think Horror.
