Paranormal Activity 8 Is Going Home — the Original House, May 21, 2027
It’s 3:33 in the morning. You’re in bed, staring at the bedroom door, and somewhere down the hall a floorboard creaks — the exact floorboard that creaked in your own house last night. The camera on your nightstand blinks its red eye. You know nothing is there. You also know you’re not getting up to check.
Bolt the bedroom door, hit record, and keep reading — the most famous haunted house in horror is opening its doors again.
Quick Specs
The news: An eighth Paranormal Activity film is coming — and it’s going back to the same house from the 2007 original.
In theaters: May 21, 2027
Director: Ian Tuason (undertone)
Producers: James Wan and Jason Blum (Blumhouse-Atomic Monster); Oren Peli (Solana Films); Paramount co-producing and co-financing
Cast: Chase Yi, Sonia Mena, Maya da Costa
Announced: Blumhouse’s BlumFest presentation at New York Comic Con, October 9, 2026
The found-footage franchise that launched a thousand shaky cameras is going home. Blumhouse revealed at its BlumFest panel at New York Comic Con that the eighth Paranormal Activity will take place in the same house as Oren Peli’s 2007 original — the most recognizable address in modern horror. Talk about a killer homecoming.
That’s a bigger deal than it sounds. The original was shot in Peli’s own home for about $15,000 and went on to earn nearly $200 million worldwide. The terror came from familiarity — the bedroom, the hallway, the night-vision camera rolling while everyone slept. Putting a new story back inside those walls is the franchise’s smartest move in years.
The series is also going back to theaters. The last entry, Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, debuted on Paramount+ in 2021. This one gets the big-screen treatment — tripods, night vision, and all.
Full disclosure, up front, because that’s how we do things here: nobody has seen a frame of this film, so there is no verdict to hand down — only the facts from the announcement, and the goosebumps they come with.
Ian Tuason directs, off his feature debut undertone. James Wan and Jason Blum produce through Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, Peli returns as a producer through Solana Films, and Paramount is co-producing and co-financing. The cast announced so far: Chase Yi, Sonia Mena, and Maya da Costa.
What we don’t know: how the original house factors into the story, whether Katie and Micah’s saga connects, or who exactly is sleeping in that bedroom now. No plot details, no trailer — yet.
