The floorboards know you are here before you do. You press your back against the orphanage wall, counting your own heartbeats because the things in the dark are counting them too — they hunt by sound, and you have been breathing too loud. A tuning fork hums in your pocket, the only key to the locked door ahead. Somewhere below, a choir of small voices rises in a song your grandmother warned you about. You do not run. Running is how they find you.

Turn off the lights and keep your voice down, fiends. In this one, noise is death.

Quick Specs

  • What: Sker: The Bleeding Veil — a single-player, first-person survival horror built around sound and stealth, with no direct combat.
  • Who: Wales Interactive (Maid of Sker, Sker Ritual) and Stormind Games (the Remothered trilogy), revealed at IGN Fall Fan Fest 2026 on October 14.
  • When and where: 1924, the Sker Point Orphanage on Sker Island, Wales. Gareth Morgan returns to the place he grew up, searching for his younger sister Elin.
  • The threat: Sister Gwenllian has gathered her former orphans around the Siren’s Song. Blind stalkers hunt by hearing.
  • Universe: same world as Maid of Sker and Sker Ritual, set after the events at Sker Hotel. This is NOT a multiplayer follow-up.
  • Platforms: PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S — Q2 2027 (spring 2027).

Full disclosure, up front: I have not played it — it launches in Q2 2027 — and every detail here comes from the official reveal coverage (redreactions and Gematsu, October 14). Also, full honesty: the site has never reviewed Maid of Sker, so I am walking into this universe cold. Consider this our haunted introduction.

The hook is the sound. Per Wales Interactive’s own overview, you will evade Sister Gwenllian and her ritual-bound orphans by using sound to explore, solving harmonic puzzles, and surviving blind stalkers that hunt by hearing. Your tools are Tuning Forks, other instruments, and a Carillon with interchangeable cylinders that can influence your pursuers. No guns. No combat. Just ears, wits, and whatever courage you can keep quiet.

Stormind Games co-developing is the detail that should raise your pulse. These are the minds behind the Remothered trilogy — some of the most nerve-shredding stalkers in modern horror games. Pair that with Wales Interactive, who made holding your breath a core mechanic in Maid of Sker, and you have a pedigree that screams.

Maid of Sker taught us to hold our breath. The Bleeding Veil wants us to hold our tongues. Either way, the Sker universe remains a real scream — literally, because screaming gets you killed.

Trivia

  • Set in 1924, just after the Great War and the events at Sker Hotel.
  • Stormind Games made the Remothered trilogy — they specialize in stalkers you cannot fight.
  • The Carillon is a real instrument — a tower of bells — twisted here into a survival tool.
  • The blind stalkers hunt purely by hearing, making the Siren’s Song a gameplay mechanic, not just lore.
  • Wales Interactive’s Maid of Sker (2020) pioneered the no-combat, sound-based stealth the series is known for.
  • Unlike Sker Ritual’s co-op multiplayer, The Bleeding Veil is strictly single-player.

Harper’s Extras

  • Undertone (2026) Review — the scariest sounds you will ever hear. The perfect warm-up for a game where sound is survival.
  • Evil Dead Burn (2026) Review — survival horror with the family from hell. For the no-one-is-safe energy.
  • Maid of Sker (2020) — the original. Go hold your breath; I will be catching up.
  • Amnesia: The Dark Descent — the granddaddy of no-combat horror. Still the scariest hiding simulator ever made.

Where to Watch

It is a game, fiends — but you can wishlist Sker: The Bleeding Veil on Steam right now ahead of its Q2 2027 launch. It is also coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
